Almost every week, I got a fish dish with BA, and it wasn't uncommon for me to get pork chops, chicken thighs, shrimp, or beef cutlets. Not just in the actual meat types, but in its cuts. All of HF's recipes seem to be from about 6 cuisines: Tex-Mex, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and American.īA also gives you a greater variety of proteins. That's a big part of the reason why I stuck with BA for over a year (though I did often skip weeks if nothing struck my fancy), and I only lasted 8 weeks with HF. Yes, they mostly fell into a few broad classes of common dishes, but every now and then, I'd get something different, like tteokbokki, or a West African-inspired peanut sauce chicken, or something vaguely Ethiopian-ish. Certain meals are just easier to ship than others. Lots of burgers, lots of vaguely Asian stir-fries, lots of pasta in red sauce. I hate when a recipe calls for just one scallion, but you can only buy them in packs of six.Ī negative that both services suffer from is that after a while, a lot of the meals become very same-y. It's also been a few years since I used BA, so things may have changed in the interim.įor both services, I did like the convenience of getting pre-portioned ingredients shipped right to me. So, your mileage may vary compared to my own experiences. I'm quite adventurous and ambitious in the kitchen. ![]() ![]() Just thought I'd give some thoughts on how the two compare.Ī few things to keep in mind: I love to cook, and I love to try new foods and cooking techniques. I recently gave Hello Fresh a try, and I have previously used Blue Apron (c. ![]()
